This painting was inspired by photos I took of villagers in a small community in Upper Mongolia, China during a trip we took in May 2019. The villagers were so welcoming and friendly - they don’t get too many visitors from outside their area and even though we couldn’t communicate verbally due to the language barrier, the friendliness and generous nature of these wonderful people broke down everyone’s guard. There’s nothing like travel to help you better understand a foreign culture.
