How to Prep a Canvas with Light Molding Paste / by Angela Bandurka

Before I begin any painting on canvas, I like to create my own texture with light molding paste. This is because I don't really like the even texture of the canvas's fibers. I'd rather have a subtle texture where the canvas shows in places but has the slightly smooth, nubby texture of the paste.

This video shows you my steps to prepping my surface and the tools I use to do so:

This is a short tutorial video showing how I add Golden Acrylic Medium Light Molding Paste to my canvas before painting. Leaving it to dry overnight after I apply it, once it's done I paint on my gesso (I prefer a combination of Liquitex Clear Gesso for its wonderful tooth, and Golden Fluid Acrylic in the color of my choice to tint the support).
